Charlottesville Day School is a home away from home for Angela Kelly. She started the music program with the first year that CDS opened. CDS has grown tremendously over the last 12 years. Currently, CDS has a jazz ensemble, two orchestras, three concert bands, two guitar ensembles, two specialty vocal ensembles and one beginner flute ensemble. Angela is also co-director of the theater program with Karin Reed and Theresa Sury.
Music classes begin at age 2, with the cubbies and go all the way through eighth grade. Several students from CDS have participated in the District XIII Band Festival as well as the District XIII Choir Festival.
In February, 2018, the Glee Club will perform for the WinterSongs celebration, a benefit for Shelter for Help and Emergency (SHE).
This is a Pre-K Class practicing reading rhythms. CDS uses the Kodaly method, using Kodaly rhythm syllables.
